‘Haritha Vizianagaram’ drive bags SKOCH award 

Vizianagaram: The district administration has bagged one more SKOCH award for Haritha Vizianagaram plantation activity.

The awards jury of SKOCH group announced silver award for district during an online conference held on Tuesday with a panel of participants. District Collector Dr M Harijawahar Lal, who is the mastermind behind the concept of Haritha Vizianagaram received this award through a web conference.

The District Administration under the leadership of Dr.M.HarijawaharLal taken up a Campaign to promote three principles such as Save Green, Spread Blue and Donate Red. Under Save Green Campaign, large scale plantation activities were taken up in the district especially in district headquarters with the participation of public, NGOs and people's representatives.

The district is ranked number one among all the thirteen districts in the state in Jagananna PachhaThoranam, a plantation programme taken up by the government this year. Save blue is the concept to protect the water bodies like tanks and restore them as part of conservation of water.

To promote Blood Donation among the citizens to avoid scarcity of blood in the district, Donate Red campaign was taken up by the district administration and number of blood donation camps were conducted by involving students, employees and NGOs.

By recognizing these efforts, the Indian Red cross Society announced an award for Vizianagaram for promoting blood donation. District Collector Dr HarijawaharLal has expressed happiness for recognising the work done by the different sections of people in achieving these goals.
