HC rejects plea of Viveka's kin for CBI probe
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday let the Special Investigative Team (SIT) to continue the investigation into the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy and dismissed the pleas of Sowbhagya, wife of Vivekanda Reddy, and YS Jaganmohan Reddy to transfer the investigation to an independent agency like CBI.
Concurring with the contention of YS Jaganmohan Reddy that the mention of the murder during political speeches would be damaging to the election prospects by various politicians, the high court instructed the politicians not to mention the murder of Vivekananda Reddy in political speeches.
The counsel of YS Jaganmohan Reddy argued that the media conference by the SIT officials revealing the details of the investigations would be used for gaining political mileage.
The high court, instructing the SIT officials to not disclose the details of investigation, asked them to file an affidavit to that effect. The high court instructed the SIT to continue investigation into the murder case to dig out the facts but not to disclose them to the media.
