Heart surgery performed on five-year-old at KIMS Ongole

Ongole: The cardiologists at the KIMS Ongole announced that they have performed critical heart surgery on a five-year-old in a minimum invasive method successfully.

Speaking to the media on Monday, KIMS medical superintendent Dr Venkateswarlu said that the KIMS team of doctors are providing super specialty services at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences for free for some time.

He said that they diagnosed a boy Ch Prasanna Gowtham suffering from cold, cough and fatigue at RIMS Ongole and observed that he has a hole in the wall connecting two valves and the blood circulation is compromised due to it.

He said that the boy is suffering with it since birth and surgery is required to address the problem.

Dr Sridhar, the cardiologist said that as per the request of the parents, they shifted the boy to KIMS and performed the surgery to close the hole with ADO-II tool under the fluoroscopic procedure, without the opening of the chest.

The general manager S Narasimha Murthy appreciated the doctors' team including Dr Sridhar, Dr Sudeep, Dr Harish, Dr Ramakrishna and others for the success of the surgery and getting ready the patient for discharge in just three days.

Murthy said that the surgery is done under the NTR Vaidyaseva scheme and asked the public to utilise their best services without going to far places for the same treatment.
