Heavy rains hit Coastal Andhra and disrupted rail services

The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains triggered the state of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. Many areas were flooded. The Vijayanagaram district received 133.6 mm of rainfall. Due to the heavy rains, floods occurred at Vijayanagaram railway station yard, which has severely damaged the track circuits. It takes a day to clear water and track.

East Coast Railway officials said several trains were cancelled due to heavy rains for another two days.

Visakhapatnam-Berhampur passenger (58526), scheduled to leave on Thursday was cancelled. The Vishakapatnam-Bhubaneswar InterCity Express (22820), Bhubaneswar-Rishanti-8 (22820), Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam (22820) and Berhampur-Vishakhapatnam passenger trains were cancelled on Friday. However, Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar made it clear that the Hirakhand Express (18448) had been rescheduled.

On the other hand, landslides have occurred on the Puthiyavalasa-Kirandul railway line in Visakha district and Borra-Chimidipally railway stations.
