High alert at Visakhapatnam railway station
Visakhapatnam: On the occasion of 73rd Independence Day celebrations, a high alert has been issued at all major cities across the country. In this context, a mega security check has been conducted at Visakhapatnam railway station.
The extensive checks were headed by Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Jitendra Srivastava where 130 personnel of RPF and GRP have participated in these inspections by forming three teams.
A thorough inspection of the coaches, lounges, parking areas and vehicles along with all the platforms, goods, parcel center, were done with the support of Dog squad. All suspected objects were screened with the help of the metal detectors.
Since few days sudden checks have been carried out in the name of Operation Number Plate, Thunder-2 and Mitra Yojana. On the occasion, an awareness program was conducted to the passengers to report immediately over founding suspicious persons or objects in the railway station surroundings.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior DSC Jitendra Srivastava said that the checks were conducted over the high alert warning. He added that the security checks are ongoing under the Waltair division.
