Hip preservation surgery performed

Tirupati: Dr Prasad Gourineni on Friday conducted hip preservation surgery on a patient from Gujarat and another child from Kerala at Amara Hospital in Tirupati. Settled in the USA, the doctor has been visiting the hospital once in every two months and rendering his services, said hospital administrator R Sridhar. The two patients were recovering fast.

Orthopaedic surgeons Dr Ravikumar and Dr Ashok and anaesthetist Dr Sudhir have assisted him in the surgery. Hip preservation is a technique, where hip problems are detected at an early stage and protected with minimal interventional procedures thereby avoiding further hip damage and avoid the need for complex surgeries.
