Home Guards backbone of police dept: DIG Khan

Eluru: Home Guards have become the backbone of the police department by extending valuable services, lauded the Deputy Inspector of Police (Eluru Range) A S Khan.

Accompanied by Superintendent of Police Navdeep Singh Grewal, DIG Khan received the guard of honour from the Home Guards on the occasion of Home Guards Raising Day celebrations held at police parade grounds here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the DIG informed that about 830 home guards have been providing valuable services in West Godavari district. Their services in regulating traffic, maintaining law and order and controlling crime are worthy, he added.

Earlier, Home Guards Reserve Inspector of Police Venkata Appa Rao welcomed the two officials. Home Guards organised a march and formed human chain at Fire Station centre here and paid tributes to martyrs on the occasion.
