House sites: TDP alleges irregularities in Nellore
Nellore: TDP District General Secretary Ch Venkateswara Reddy criticised that there were irregularities in the selection of beneficiaries for house sites in Kovur mandal. He addressed the media here on Thursday and stated that the officials have removed genuine beneficiaries from the list and included the names ruling party cadres.
He said that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had instructed the officials to select the beneficiaries for house sites which will be distributed on Ugadi and many people applied for the house sites. But the names of the majority applicants were removed due to pressure by the ruling party leaders, he alleged.
Reddy further said that the officials have stated that these beneficiaries were having own houses, house sites and house sites were given to them earlier. The names of ruling party activists were included who are already having own sites and waiting for construction of the house, he said. Officials have received 12,321 applications from the mandal for house sites and the local tahsildar declared that 5,549 were eligible.
In Kovur, out of 3,855 applications the tahsildar had earlier announced that 2,750 were eligible. But now officials are saying only 984 in Kovur town and 2,497 in the entire mandal are eligible. The TDP leaders suspect irregularities in the selection. TDP leader demanded that genuine beneficiaries be included and fake candidates be removed. Local leaders Y Krishnaiah, P Srihari Reddy and others were present.
