Huge response to Amma Vodi grievances meet in Eluru
Eluru: There was a huge response to the 'Amma Vodi' special grievance cell, organised by District Collector R Muthyala Raju here on Thursday. A large number of students and their parents participated in the session to get their names registered. The venue of grievance cell was packed to capacity and the officials have to erect makeshift tents to give the visitors shelter from the hot Sun. Those who did not receive Amma Vodi benefits so far, those already applied but not registered for various reasons and those who did not apply so far attended the grievance cell and submitted their petitions to the District Collector.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said that the parents of students who meet the eligibility conditions need not worry and the State government would include their names for receiving benefits under the scheme.
Every petition submitted at the cell would be thoroughly verified and particulars will be registered. He directed the officials to ensure no mistakes occur in solving the grievances.
Contrary to expectations, about 15,000 attended the grievance cell. The officials arranged special counters at the indoor stadium in front of the Collectorate, the venue for holding the grievance cell. The mandal-level officials were deputed to receive applications mandal-wise. Besides erecting tents for the people, the officials supplied drinking water and butter milk to them. To avoid stampede, the police swung into action and paved the way for peaceful submission of petitions at the counters.
