I have resumed charge, says N Ramesh Kumar
Amaravati: Minutes after the pronouncement of judgement by AP High Court in favour of N Ramesh Kumar, continuing him as State Election Commissioner, he announced that he resumed to the charge, in a statement on Friday.
He stated that, "After the High Court has reinstated me , I have resumed charge. I will discharge my duties fairly and impartially as I did in the past and as mandated."
He maintained that, in consultation with the principal stake holders and all the political parties, he will resume electoral process to the local bodies at the earliest on return of normalcy. It is worth mentioning that, all the differences between chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the SEC surfaced after he put the ongoing local body elections in hold due to COVID19 pandemic.
Welcoming the judgement, he stated that, "Individuals are not permanent. But constitutional institutions and the values they represent alone are permanent in the end."
Those who have taken an oath of office to protect constitution, have a greater responsibility to continue to protect and safeguard these institutions and their integrity, Ramesh Kumar observed.
