IGMC STADIUM GETTING READY FOR SWEARING-IN : Jagan to take oath on May 30

Vijayawada/Hyderabad: The stage is set for the swearing-in ceremony of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as the second chief minister of Andhra Pradesh with Governor ESL Narasimhan inviting him to form the government.

Jaganmohan Reddy will be sworn in at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium at 12.23 pm on Thursday. Jagan will be going to Delhi on Sunday to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the swearing in ceremony.

Earlier on Saturday, the YSRCP Legislature Party elected him as the leader of the party. Soon after that Jagan went to Hyderabad and met the Governor.

After his meeting with the Governor, Jagan drove straight to Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad and met Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and invited him to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

KCR welcomed him with a basket of fruits. Jagan was accompanied by his wife Y S Bharati. TRS working president K T Rama Rao, party secretary-general K Keshav Rao, TS Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and ministers were present at Pragathi Bhavan to welcome Jagan.

KCR made it clear that the policy of Telangana is to maintain cordial relations with neighbouring states in a give and take manner.

The Chief Minister said, "If Godavari and Krishna waters were utilised effectively, then both states would prosper in all aspects.

KCR told Jagan that from river Godavari about 3,500 TMC of water every year was going waste into the sea. Telangana, he said, can make use of a maximum of only 700 to 800 TMC of water. Rest of the water Andhra Pradesh can make use of.

Godavari water can be diverted through gravity through the Prakasam barrage to Somasila project and with this entire Rayalaseema can be irrigated, he added. Both the leaders agreed to have a meeting of the officials concerned soon.

Meanwhile, the AP government led by Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam supervised the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony. He also reviewed the arrangements with officials of Krishna district and other higher officials.

He directed the officials to allot parking slots and provide transport facilities for the meeting.

The Chief Secretary also asked the officials to set up LED screens inside and outside the stadium. He said that as many as 35,000 people could watch the event from sitting in the stadium.

Police Commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said the parking slots would be provided at the PWD grounds, Bishop Azariah ground, Ramavarapadu, Kanuru, Gollapudi and Kaza tollgate. CRDA Commissioner Ch Sridhar and other officials were present.
