Introduce direct train to Varanasi, demands BJP leader
Kakinada: BJP state executive member Peddireddi Ravi Kiran requested the Rajya Sabha Member and BJP spokesman GVL Narasimha Rao to take steps for running a direct train to Varanasi from Kakinada and other parts of Andhra Pradesh.
He submitted a representation to Narasimha Rao and said that a lot of pilgrims in Andhra Pradesh were going to Varanasi very frequently either individually or in groups. But, they don't have any direct train to Varanasi from any part of Andhra Pradesh.
The pilgrims were being forced to change multiple trains to reach Varanasi and it was causing lot of difficulty for the people of the region. He said that the BJP requested South Central Railway to extend the existing Tirupati-Bilaspur (No 17482) train to Varanasi. Based on his request, the SCR had written to SECR for their track approval.
SECR had written to SCR and NDRB that they have no objection in providing the extension provided an additional track was allotted and necessary approvals were given.
