IPS officers association denies support to AP former Intelligence Chief AB Venkateswar Rao!
IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao, who was suspended in the drone procurement scandal, had received another bitter experience. He wrote a letter to the IPS Officers' Association asking for his support. The letter said the Andhra Pradesh government was harassing him. The IPS Officers' Association held a meeting and discussed at length on the letter of AB Venkateswara Rao. The association believes it is appropriate for the government to impose a suspension on him as he is currently facing corruption charges and will face trial. It ruled that no interference could be made in the affair.
The IPS Officers' Association has denied reports that some channels have expressed support for AB. AB Venkateswara Rao did not express any support. Also, AB Venkateswara Rao was warned not to make any allegations against the IPS officers. It is learned that when AB Venkateswara Rao was suspended by the state government for allegedly committing irregularities in the procurement of surveillance equipment as a threat to national security. He had approached the High Court in this regard and the High Court had earlier granted the stay on the suspension.
However, CAT dismissed his petition seeking revocation of the suspension orders issued by the AP government, including the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), which had already made it clear that there was a definite basis for suspending AB, who was suspended in the drone procurement scandal. In this context, the suspension was lifted by the AP High Court and the government challenged it in the Supreme Court.
