Amaravati: The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government has called for reverse tender cum auction for the Rs 553 crore worth Veligonda project second tunnel works in Saturday.

The sources in the Irrigation department informed that documents for the reverse tender are being uploaded on e procurement website.

In fact, this project was awarded to Rithwik Construction company, which owned by present BJP Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh. He shifted loyalty from TDP to BJP recently.

At that time, the works were awarded to the company with final agreed amount of Rs 597.35 crore. YSRCP government alleged that TDP government gave the project to the company with 4.69 percent excess. After these allegations, the state government has terminated the contractor recently and called for reverse tenders.

The Rithwik company completed only 462 meters of tunnel work and the Irrigation department called tenders for remaining 7.57 km works with estimated expenditure of Rs 553 crore.

Tenders will be taken from September 23 and will be closed on October 9. Thre financial bid will be opened on October 11 and then will conduct the auction. The government suspected that these works could be completed with just Rs 246 crore, but the then CM N Chandrababu Naidu prepared the tenders with excess estimations to benefit the company.
