Jagan mohan Reddy signs first file increasing wages of Asha workers

Amaravati: Continuing the focus on welfare initiatives, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, as soon as he entered into his chamber at the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Saturday, signed his first signature increasing wages of Aasha workers.

As decided earlier, he increased the wages of Asha workers from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000. He gave consent to Anantapur Express Highway and also signed on insurance scheme for journalists.

Jagan entered his official chamber at the Secretariat at Velagapudi after performing puja amidst chanting of Vedic mantras by pundits.

The Chief Minister said that a decision would be taken on employees' issues like enhancement of 27 per cent Interim Relief, abolition of CPS and regularisation of contract employees as per requirement. He said a decision would be taken on the issues in the first meeting of the new State Cabinet scheduled to be held on Monday.

Addressing officials on this occasion, Jagan appealed to them to improve transparency in administration. He said officials should show a difference in administration as people gave highest mandate to YSRCP with a high degree of hope. He said not only the political parties, the government machinery also has the responsibility to perform well as they are answerable to people.

The Chief Minister sought the cooperation of officials to bring transparency in administration and to curb corrupt practices.He sought their support to save money to government exchequer and said that he is ready to felicitate those officials who come out with proposals to cut unnecessary expenditure. He said the administration in the State should be a role model for the entire country.

The Chief Minister pointed out that he met High Court Chief Justice and requested for setting up a Judicial Commission to finalise the tenders in a transparent manner.He said the government should provide an opportunity for participation of large number of bidders to bring down the rates.

He said highest rates were quoted and the tenders were awarded to a section of people in the previous government. He said the State government would opt for reverse tendering system to save money for the government. Jagan Mohan Reddy said village volunteers will be appointed to supervise the implementation of government welfare programmes.

Earlier, Chief Secretary L V Subrahmanyam explained that the officials are ready to meet the challenge. Later, the Chief Minister asked the officials to air their views for good governance. Some of the officials hinted on additional revenue generation and others on introduction of pollution free electrical buses.

Welcoming the opinions of officials, the Chief Minister stressed the need for green tax and solid waste management to prevent pollution. Addressing the NGOs, the Chief Minister promised payment of 27 per cent Interim Relief as stated in election manifesto, abolition of CPS and regularisation of contract employees as per requirement. He said a decision would be taken on the issues in the Cabinet meeting to be held on Monday.
