Jagananna Deevena benefits 31,873 students in Tirupati: MLA Bhumana
Tirupati: As many as 31,873 students were identified in Tirupati Municipal Corporation limits for availing Jagananna Vidya Deevena and Jagananna Vasathi Deevena schemes for higher and technical education, said MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy.
Speaking after giving away the identity cards to the beneficiary
students to avail fee re-imbursement under the two new schemes, at a function held at SPJN Municipal High School here on Thursday, Karunakar Reddy said thatannually a total of Rs 31.26 crore would be provided to thebeneficiary students selected under the two schemes.
Under the scheme, annually Rs 10,000 to ITI students, Rs 15,000 for polytechnic and Rs 20,000 for Degree and other higher courses would be provided towards the re-imbursement of the students' fee and hostel charges for completing education, he explained.
Claiming that the YSRCP government fulfilled almost all the poll promises under Navaratnalu announced by the party before the general elections, Karunakar Reddy said that the scheme will benefit all the students whose family income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh per annum.
MLC Y Sreenivasulu Reddy and Municipal Commissioner PS Girisha also spoke.
