Jagananna Thodu: 36,000 petty vendors to be benefitted in Krishna district

Vijayawada: Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas said 36,000 small vendors, small shop keepers, pushcart vendors and others will be benefitted in Krishna district under the Jagananna Thodu scheme and the State government have sanctioned Rs35.97 crore in this regard.

He said the interest-free loans are sanctioned for doing small business and for the betterment of their lives.

Velampalli said the State government is implementing the Jagananna Todu scheme in collaboration with bankers to improve the lives of small traders and vendors in the State.

Velampalli Srinivas along with the district Collector Md Imtiaz, MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Jogi Ramesh, K Parthasarathi, K Anil Kumar and other officials participated in the videoconference at the Collector's camp office on Wednesday.

He said the banks would credit the loan amount of Rs 10,000 into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in 10 days.

Velampalli said the beneficiaries will be given QR-based smart ID cards and if they repay the loan amount in the given timeline. He further added that the State government shall reimburse the interest once in every three months directly to the beneficiaries' accounts, and they will be eligible to take the next loan.

Krishna district Collector Md Imtiaz said the vegetable vendors, fruit vendors, small shopkeepers, pushcart vendors, and traditional artisans are eligible to get the loan under Jagananna Todu scheme.

The interested persons can apply for the scheme, he said and suggested that they can apply through village/ward volunteers in one month time. He said after verification, the applicants will be provided with the scheme benefits in a month or two. He said the State government had deposited Rs 905 crore to 9.05 lakh small traders, towards interest-free loans.
