Jagananna Vasathi Deevena scheme launched in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Central Assembly constituency MLA Malladi Vishnu launched the Jagananna Vasathi Deevena (JVD) programme at the SRR and CVR Government College here on Monday and distributed cards to the students.

Addressing the students, parents and staff, Vishnu said the objective of Jagananna Vasati Deevena was to render assistance to the students studying in ITI, degree, Post-Graduate, Polytechnic and other courses. He said 8,200 students will be benefited in the 22 divisions with the implementation of JVD. He said the government was implementing the 'Amma Vodi' scheme for students studying from Class I to Intermediate. Poverty should not be a hurdle for the development and growth of children in the State, he added.

Vishnu said that the 'Jagananna Vasathi Deevena' was launched by CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Vizianagaram district on Monday. He said the government has made 75 percent attendance mandatory to get the scholarships. He said that the literacy percentage in the state was 67.14 percent and the efforts were on to make it 100 percent.
