Jallikattu begins at Karalagatta village in Chittoor, many injured
A traditional and controversial bull-run event known as Jallikattu is being held in the Karlagatta village of Shantipuram Mandir in Chittoor district. Many of them got injured in this mindboggling event. The victims who also suffered injuries were shifted to a local hospital for treatment.
Jallikattu means bullfighting in Tamil Nadu state. Jallikattu is also celebrated in Andhra Pradesh as well. Thousands of spectators flock to watch the Jallikattu competitions, especially in Chittoor district.
The Jallikattu competitions will take place in the villages of Chandragiri, Vedurukuppam, Airala, Pullaiyagari Palli and Ramakuppam. Youngsters compete to catch the raging bulls. The full-fledged festival will be held in January on the eve of Sankranthi in Tamil Nadu.
