Jamaat-e-Islami Hind targets 100 pc literacy in Bhimavaram
Bhimavaram: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind state president Mohammad Rafique has said their organisation was aiming for cent per cent literacy in the country. Addressing the media here on Sunday, he said the spiritual and social organisation had been trying to create awareness among people, including Muslims on the need to get literate.
He was here as part of state wide tour. He said their organisation had been trying to dispel myths and misconceptions about Islam from the minds of people. It was propagating human values for which the religion was known for.
The organisation was striving to improve brotherhood among people of various religions and cultures and safeguarding the country from the threat of communal elements and anti-social elements for over 70 years.
The organisation has been in the forefront in donating liberally for people affected by natural calamities and involved in various service activities. The state wing of the Jamaat has contributed Rs 33 lakh to the relief measures for victims of floods in Kerala. The organisation also donated Rs 6 lakh to Assam flood victims, he added.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind district leader Md Muneer, Bhimavaram town president MM Pasha, Akividu president Md Shazad, town women wing leader Rizwana, state leader Md Siddiq and others were present.
