JC directs officials to expedite steps for updating of land records in Chittoor
Chittoor: Joint Collector K Markendeyulu said that land records have to be updated at village level and deputy collectors, tahsildars and surveyors have to play a key role in the work.
Participating in a work shop held at the Collectorate here on Tuesday, he explained the salient features of the massive programme. ``By way of conducting grama sabhas in the villages, actual land availability will be known.
After ascertaining the status, the officials should undertake purification of land records with regard to 17 factors. Village wise action should be framed for updating the land records, " he said. He directed the officials to verify five years records of sub-registrar offices to ascertain the status of land registrations in different stages.
Special Officers would be deployed to monitor the land records purification drive, he added. On the occasion DRO Vijayachander said that most of the land relating disputes were being registered in Spandana programme being held at Collectorate on each Monday.
If purification of land records has been initiated effectively , there would no pressure on revenue department on land relating issues, " he added. Chittoor RDO Renuka and, DRDA Project Director Murali were present .
