JNTU-K celebrates World Adivasi Day in Kakinada
Kakinada: World Adivasi Day was organised at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University- Kakinada (JNTU-K) at BR Ambedkar Library Hall here on Friday.
On this occasion, the statue of the architect of the Indian Constitution BR Ambedkar was garlanded as he strived for welfare of all in the society and their equality.
Speaking on the occasion, JNTU Registrar Prof VV Subba Rao said that for the first time, the university was organizing the Adivasi Day on a grand scale. The Registrar also said that students should also be participate in such programmes in large numbers.
On this occasion, the Registrar said social reformer Jyotirao Phule strived for equality of all and for the uplift of Girijans and other backward classes in the society. University Rector Prof I Shanti Prabha, Prof Purnanandam and others also spoke.
Several faculty members belonging to different departments also paid glowing tributes to Dr Ambedkar and Phule. They advised the students to take the great visionaries as role models to come up in life.
