Journos stage dharna opposing the move in Chittoor

Chittoor: Protesting against the anti-democratic step of imposing ban on certain electronic media channels , city scribes have staged a dharna in front of Chittoor RDO office on Monday. Chittoor Press Club secretary Ashok , treasurer Nani , former Press Club president Ramesh Babu, senior journalists Subhash Babu, Kareem, Abhi, Chandra, Siva, Naveen, Jayaraj, Manohara Reddy and others were present.

Addressing the scribes, senior journalist Kareem described the act of the Government as nothing but a threat to the freedom of the press. If Government finds any report wrong or motivated, it can approach court for justice. It has no constitutional right to impose ban on any media in any form," he said. The scribes then submitted a memorandum to Renuka, Revenue Divisional Officer, Chittoor urging her to take needful action to save the freedom of the press.
