Update: 2019-09-20 09:00 IST

The state government has decided to cancel the 3,030-acre bauxite mining lease in Visakha district. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy signed the file on Thursday. The bauxite mining lease orders will be issued on Friday. YS Jagan's promise to abolish the bauxite excavation and the mining lease issued by the government in the past would be abolished by the government. Income is important to the government. "Income is not important to the government. The tribal sentiment must also be respected. The democratic government is responsible for the value of the beliefs and opinions of the people. That is why we are cancelling the bauxite mining lease," CM Jagan told. A senior official told a witness that the CM's words were wrong and the heel turned out to be a leader.

Chandrababu Deceived The People

The Congress government has allocated 3030 acres (1212 hectares) of bauxite deposits in Chintapalli and Zerrilla forest blocks of Visakha district to the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC). Chandrababu, who was the leader of the opposition at the time, demanded that the bauxite excavations not be conducted. They have announced that they would cancel their leases if they come to power. When Chandrababu came to power in 2014, he didn't stand by his words.

The CBN government claimed that the progress if tribals would be achieved only by the excavation of bauxite. Bauxite excavations have secured forest and environmental permits overnight and released a GO. 97 on November 5, 2015, permitting bauxite excavation in 3030 acres in Chintapalli and Zerrilla forests in Visakha district. The then opposition YSR Congress Party raised concerns with the tribals to protest this.

We Stood By Our Words - Jagan

After YS Jagan came to power he had a review with mining department and asked to issue and order to cancel lease of 3030 acre land under the name of Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC). Since bauxite is a major mineral.

However, the central government has the power to issue and cancel mining leases. it remains to be seen whether central government agree to AP government's decision.
