Kadapa district officials make all arrangements for upcoming Local Body elections

Kadapa: After the state election commission has decided to conduct elections for panchayaths, all major political parties chalking out the plan for securing victory in the polls in the district.

Despite the period of village sarpanches concluded on 28th August, elections were not held due to various reasons. In 2014, elections were held for municipalities, ZPTC's, MPTC's, and Panchayaths. The political parties considered a local body, ZPTC, MPTC elections as a rehearsal for assembly elections as they tactfully plan their strategy to strengthen their bastion.

But now the situation is entirely different as the leaders of political parties have to do laborious exercise to divert the attention of people from the ruling party especially it has become a litmus test to Telugu Desam Party.

Despite political parties like Congress, BJP, CPM, CPI, Jana Sena are in the race; their contest is nominal to prove their political existence as primary contest witnessing between YSR Congress and TDP as both parties are on the job of approaching the elections to ensure victory.

The administration has finalized the reservations for 786 panchayaths and sent the report on 4th January to the government.

However, following directions of the government, the administration has added some 12 panchayaths in Railway Kodur, Kondapuram, Kamalapuram, Valluru, Chitwel, Mudhanuru, mandals resulted in the number of panchayaths increased to 798.

Meanwhile, the administration has proposed to set up as many as 749 polling centres. About 7.31lakh voters are going to exercise their franchise.
