Kadapa: Hanumath Sastri's contribution to field of literature lauded
Kadapa: AP High Court Judge Justice Matam Venkata Ramana has lauded that eminent writer Janamaddi Hanumath Sastri had rendered great service for Telugu literature by establishing Charles Phillip Brown Research Center for Languages (CPBRCL) despite facing several hurdles to protect the interests of students and research scholars.
Taking part as a chief guest at a meeting organised by Janamaddi Sahithi Peetam (JSP) on the occasion of 97th birth anniversary of Janamaddi Hanumath Sastri in the premises of CB Brown library in the city here on Sunday, the High Court Judge said that a number of people across the country have occupied higher positions and became IAS and IPS officers after utilising the educative material at CPBRCL.
Kendra Sahitya Akademi Puraskar awardee Kethu Viswanatha Reddy lauded Janamaddi Vijaya Baskar, son of Hanumath Sastri, for presenting awards in memory of his father to those who excelled in literature and allied fields.
JSP managing trustee J Vijaya Baskar said he feels proud to present awards in the memory of his father every year. He said that JSP was not able to present awards last year due to the Covid pandemic. Hence, at the function on Sunday, awards were presented for the three years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
On the occasion, awards were presented to Acharya Chandra Sekhar Reddy (in literature) and State Libraries secretary R Saradha (Grandhalaya Seva Puraskaram) for 2019.
The 2020 awards were presented to young story writer Vempalle Gangadhar (literature) and Manusu Foundation chairman M Venkata Rayudu (Grandhalaya Seva Puraskaram).
For the year 2021, noted Avadhana poet N Rama Reddy (literature) and SV University ex-librarian Valluvar Shanmukham (Grandhalaya Seva Puraskaram) received the awards. Yalamarthi Madhu Sudhana, Kasibhatla Narayana Sharma, Anandha Raj, M Ramamuni Reddy, K Janardhan Raju, M Suresh, V Venkateswara Chari, P Bali Reddy, Dr Ramachandraiah and others were present.
