Kadapa: N Tulasi Reddy questions AP government's claim on liquor policy

Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee working president N Tulasi Reddy has accused the State government of adopting double standards as far as liquor policy is concerned.

Speaking to media persons at Vempalli on Sunday, he pointed out that if the government is really committed to eradicate liquor mence, it should impose total prohibition instead of increasing price of liquor.

Tulasi Reddy recalled during regime of TDP in 2018-19 the government had secured Rs 6,220 crore revenue on liquor, while YSR congress government had Rs 8,518 crore revenue in 2019-20 year. It was Rs 2,298 crore more.

While questioning the claim of YSR Congress government for advertising that the measures taken by it had led to weaning a number of persons off liquor.

He also questioned that the reduction of number of liquor shop by 33 per cent and eradicating 43,000 belt shops had yielded positive results. If it was true, why there was long queues in front of liquor shops, he wondered.
