Kadapa: Police launch Rythannaku Raksha scheme
Kadapa: The Kadapa police administration has introduced a new concept Farmers Protection Centres (FPCs), Rythannaku Raksha. The district police have already been implementing Locked House Monitoring System(LHMS), Command Control Room System(CCRS), Operation Muskaan for preventing crimes.
This new concept is meant for rescuing farmers from harassment of private money lenders, from middle men, spurious fertilizers, and sub-standard seeds.
It may be noted that more than 100 farmers had committed suicide for the last 3 years in the district as they could not repay the loans taken from private money lenders at abnormal rate of interest.
In majority cases, farmers have incurred heavy losses due to fake seeds and spurious fertilisers. They also failed to get minimum support price (MSP) to their produce due to involvement of middlemen.
They face the problems due to lack of separate organisation, illiteracy, high handedness of locals etc. After dealing several cases during Spandana programme, police officials have designed this innovative method of establishing FPC's in the district.
When contacted Hans India Superintendent of KVVN Anburajan said that in most cases, farmers are committing suicides as they could not repay the loans to private persons. Farmers are unable to do their cultivation in a peaceful manner due to various reasons.
Under FPC concept, police immediately swung into the action after receiving complaint from the farmer and initiate stringent action under section CRPC against those who are responsible for cheating farmers" he said.
