Kadapa: Section 144 imposed to prevent people's gathering

Police and municipal officials asking the shop owners to close shutters in Pulivendula on Tuesday

Kadapa: As the people came on to the roads in large numbers for the purchase of commodities and other needs, uneasy situation prevailed in the city on Tuesday.

Traders were seen opening their business establishments despite the announcement of lockdown in the towns like Pulivendula, Jammalamadugu, Badvel, Mudukuru and Rayachoti. Police and municipal officials asked them to close down shutters.

In Badvel, police resorted to lathi charge at Bustand Centre to disperse the mob gathering at market place. To avoid gathering of people, police officials imposed Section 144 in the district.

Superintendent of Police KNN Anburajan said section 144 will be in force till 31st March. He said as many as 20 vehicles were seized and cases were registered against persons for violating the norms.

The SP warned of initiating stringent action against the people who violate restrictions. He said police in good numbers were deployed at borders preventing the entry of vehicles in to the district.
