Kakinada: 'Amarajeevi' remembered on his death anniversary

District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy paying tributes to ‘Amarajeevi’ Potti Sreeramulu on the occasion of his death anniversary in Kakinada on Tuesday

Kakinada: Rich tributes were paid to 'Amarajeevi' Potti Sreeramulu in East Godavari district on his 68th death anniversary on Tuesday.

District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy and Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy garlanded the statue of Potti Sriramulu at CBM College grounds.

Collector Reddy said that youth should take the late leader's life as ideal. He said that Sreeramulu was revered as Amarajeevi in the Andhra region for his self-sacrifice for the Andhra cause. He became famous for undertaking a hunger strike in support of the formation of an State for the Telugu speaking population out of Madras Presidency. He lost his life in the cause.

Joint Collector Keerthi Chekuri, Kakinada Municipal Corporation Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar and others were present.
