Kakinada: Collector D Murlidhar Reddy asks officials to keep watch on scanning centres

Kakinada: District Collector D Murlidhar Reddy instructed officials to monitor the diagnostic and scanning centres in the district and implement the PC & PNDT Act 1994 strictly.

The Collector held the district level Multi Member Appropriate Authority meeting on Monday. He informed that out of 306 scanning centres in the district, 268 are private centres. He directed the authorities to increase the number of contingency checks through a special drive.

He suggested that there should be no violation of law anywhere in the district and awareness should be created on the regulation of gender testing tests. He said that there will be continuous monitoring on the implementation of the law.

Four applications for registration of new scanning centres in the district and nine for renewal have been received and approved after verification. He said a total of 12 decoy operations were conducted in the district in November and December. Joint Collector Keerthi Chekuri, DMHO Dr KVS Gowreswar Rao and others were present.
