Kakinada: The number of cows on the busy roads in the city, especially in recent months, has increased, complain residents. Bhamidipati Bhaskara Sharma, a resident of Gandhinagar, while speaking to The Hans India here on Friday complained that cows whenever they were chased get agitated and start attacking the passers-by.

He said that these cows come awfully close to the vehicles, especially the two-wheelers, which may also result in accidents. He said that this has been going on without any kind of intervention by the civic authorities concerned.

Another resident, Giduturi Sanjeev Rao, said that the cows block the roads and some of the cattle attack the vehicles also.

This may disrupt the traffic and the motorists may be injured. The cows were one of the many factors contributing to the city's traffic snarls. Stray cows strolling on crowded roads bring vehicles to a grinding halt.

The cattle are undeterred even by honking. Often, vehicles are forced to veer around them, which results in slow movement of traffic. The Municipal Corporation authorities did not take any action to control the cows in the smart city, he lamented.
