Kakinada: Deputy Inspector- General of Police (Eluru range) KV Mohan Rao said that steps would be taken to conduct the local body polls peacefully in the district. He warned that anyone found involved in any unlawful activities during the elections will be punished with three year jail term.

The DIG along with SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi met District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy and discussed the election arrangements on Wednesday. He said that to ensure no liquor and money distributed to the voters during polls, check-posts were set up in various identified problematic locations across the district and special teams formed to check illegal practices during the elections.

He said that additional police force would be deployed at all problematic locations in the district. Rao said that they filed bind-over cases against whoever tries to violate the Model Code of Conduct.

He said that Section 144 would be implemented at all polling stations and a huge Bandobast would be set up in the troubled areas. He said that Section 30 and 144 would be implemented at all polling stations and a huge bandobast would be set up in the sensitive and highly sensitive areas.
