Kakinada: Mahila Police Station DSP B Ramakrishna organised the Disha Act awareness camp at Sri Chaitanya Mahila Degree College here on Wednesday. He advised the students to take precautionary measures while walking on the road. A total of 300 college students took part in the camp.

He said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy initiated serious steps to prevent sexual attacks on women by introducing Disha Act.

During the camp, the participants were given tips about how to protect themselves in case they get attacked. Officials of the Women Police Station distributed pamphlets about the Disha App.

Ramakrishna explained that the Disha App provides two ways of calling for help: Either by pressing a button on the phone or if that is not possible, by simply shaking their phone five times. It will alert the Disha Control Room which in turn will alert cops. He explained about She teams, Mahila Mitra, Ciber Mitra and other App applications.
