Karthika Somavaram celebrations conclude

Kakinada: 'Karthika Masam' celebrations concluded on Monday, the last 'Karthika Somavaram' of the auspicious month. A huge number of devotees thronged temples of Lord Siva in East Godavari district and performed special rituals.

The devotees lit lamps and left them in the river. Thousands of devotees thronged temples of Lord Siva on the last Monday of 'Karthika Masam' to offer prayers at Siva and Vishnu temples. On "Karthika Somavaram" devotees took a holy dip in River Godavari.

The festival was one of the most auspicious times for people as they offer prayers to Lord Siva. The devotees took a holy dip at Godavari Ghats and various Siva temples at Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram and Kotipalli. The devotees lit the earthen lamps at the rivers and floated them on the waters while offering prayers to the river gods at Rajamahendravaram.

Pancharam famous temples of Sri Bhimeswara Swamy, Draksharama, Kumara Rama Bhimeswara Swamy temple Samalkot, Sri Someswara Swamy temple, Kotipalli and Kukketeswara Swamy Temple Pithapuram (Padagaya) and others were all filled with devotees arriving there to offer prayers.

Jagannaickpur Sivalayam, Siva temple near Ramaraopet, Balajicheru Sri Bala Tripurasundari Devi temple, Turangi Sivalayam Indrapalem Sri Subramaneswaraswamy temple witnessed heavy rush.

The devotees made a beeline at temples to have a glimpse of the presiding deities. The temple authorities have made all arrangements and facilities to take darshan of the gods and goddesses to the devotees without any inconveniences.

The devotees offer fasting prayers chanting the Kartika purana and Kartika damodara pooja. The Women devotees lit the lamps near Tulasi kota and performed nitya poojas to Goddess Tulasi, chanting Vishnu and Shiva Sahsranamam and Siva stotram. Godavari reverberated with the chants of Hara Hara Mahadev.
