Kakinada: Kids have a ball on roads as parks, playgrounds closed
Kakinada: Many children are playing cricket on the open roads without wearing the masks. In view of the relaxation from Covid-19 regulations, children are coming outside and resorting to play on the open roads. It is causing a lot of inconvenience to the pedestrians as well as motorbike riders.
Due to closure of parks and lack of playgrounds, the children come outside and play cricket, badminton and other sports on the roads in Gandhinagar, Pratap Nagar, Jagannaickpur and other places in the Smart City.
Recently, the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) opened the parks with restricted timings. But despite the online classes, the children are coming outside and playing on open roads.
The children have been deprived of playground activities all these months due to Covid-19 restrictions. Due to lack of physical activity, they are accustomed to online games.
VT Lakshmi, a private school teacher commented that as children are deprived of physical activities and exclusively restricting themselves to online games.As a result, there are perceptible changes in their mode of thinking and behaviour. They are unable to concentrate on education. The schools are not run for primary classes. Naturally, they are playing on roads.
Psychologist APJ Vinu remarked that children should invariably wear masks during play time. He also commented that children are deprived playgrounds in view of the rise in number of buildings without leaving space for playgrounds.
Even in parks, they don't provide adequate space for children playing the games. He said that this is the main reason for playing on the open roads. He said that the parents should make children attend to small works in the houses and they become a part of physical exercise to them.
