Kakinada: Parents reluctant to send children to school

Kakinada: Even though the government has not issued any directives regarding reopening of Vedic schools, the parents are reluctant to send their wards to the schools due to threat of contracting coronavirus. As per the orders of the government, the government schools reopened on November 2, but in view of the non-specific orders, the Vedic schools are not yet reopened. However, Smartha Agama Veda Patasala at Annavaram was reopened. All the 30 students are attending the school regularly. But MSN Charities Vedic School run by the Endowments department in Kakinada is not yet opened.

MSN Charities Vedic Schools Executive Officer D Saibabu told 'The Hans India' that the parents of Vedic students are reluctant to send their wards to the schools. He said that they are contacting the parents, but nobody is willing to send their children to classes. There are 16 students in MSN Charities Vedic School.

Moreover, the Vedic school students are reluctant to return and attend the classes in view of lack of basic amenities such as water, bedding and breakfast etc. They do not have qualitative and nutritious breakfast and lunch. They further express grave concerns about the frequent presence of snakes. They also express anguish that the Endowments department is paying scant attention regarding food and accommodation besides safety.

BJP senior leader Duvvuri Subramanyam alleged that despite crores of rupees donated by Malladi Satya Linaga Nayakar for the cause of Vedic education, the Endowments department is little concerned and least bothered about the welfare of the Vedic students and the progress of their Vedic studies.

Manta Aditya, a student of MSN Charities Vedic School has expressed his readiness and willingness to attend the school and he do not want the academics schedule to be disturbed. He also made it clear that they would follow the Covid-19 norms and attend the classes regularly. Another Vedic student, Jayanti Abinav complained that their academic schedule is disturbed owing to lockdown.

Annavaram Devasthanam PRO Kondala Rao said that they are taking classes for Vedic students. Among 30 students, 20 have completed their course and the authorities are willing to issue certificates very shortly. He said that for admitting new students a fresh notification will be issued very shortly. He informed that an amount of Rs 4 crore has been spent for improvement of Vedic Patashala.
