Kakinada: Speed up land acquisition, CS Nilam Sawhney tells officials
Kakinada: The district administration is putting its endeavour to acquire necessary land for distribution of plots under the housing scheme scheduled to be held on Ugadi festival.
Meanwhile, chief secretary Nilam Sawhney has directed the district Collector D Murlidhar Reddy and other officials to speed up the land acquisition programme and complete it by March 1 so that the house sites could be distributed to the poor on time.
She along with the officials of Revenue and Roads and Buildings Department discussed the issue and said any delay in this regard would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The process of acquisition has to be speeded up, he added.
Later, she asked the District Collector to do the needful to take the position of lands taken and also clear the issues of lands among the departments. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy was very much particular in this regard, she told the officials.
Later, the District Collector said 2.1 lakh beneficiaries in rural and 1.2 lakh beneficiaries in urban areas have registered their names so far for the housing scheme.
Joint Collectors Lakshmi Shah, G Raja Kumari, GUDA vice-chairman Amarendra Kumar and other officials were present on the occasion.
