Kanipakam temple to be closed for two days
Chittoor: As one of the home guards of Kanipakam temple was infected with COVID-19, the temple authorities cancelled public darshan for devotees for two days from Monday. According to temple executive officer A Venkatesh, as per the instructions of the district collector Dr N Bharat Gupta, all the employees of the temple were tested for corona on June 14. The home guard and a resident of Muttukur, Chittoor mandal was tested positive for the virus, forcing the temple authorities to close the temple up to Wednesday, he added.
He said all primary and secondary contacts of him were sent for quarantine ward at Chittoor. "Among 60 regular employees of the temple, a home guard was unfortunately infected by COVID 19. Hence darshan to the devotees was cancelled for two days. From Wednesday onwards, entry is made free for all devotees," he added. The EO said that it was decided to conduct corona tests for all the workers of the temple on June 16.
He added Ganapathi Adharva Seersha Upanishad Homam and Krimisamharaka Suktha Homam would be performed at the temple as per schedule on Tuesday confining the entry to Archakas only.
