Amaravati: BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana warned of taking to streets in protest against attacks by YSRCP supporters against activists of political rivals. The BJP will organise the protest on August 16 in Palnadu region in Guntur district, he said.

Lakshminarayana, in an interview with The Hans India on Monday, dwelt on issues like cancellation of Polavaram tenders, review of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), failure of the government on law and order front, violence encouraged by YSRCP and other developments. He said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has been taking hasty decisions at the cost of public.

Cancellation of Polavaram works by Navayuga was a major blunder and this was nothing but wastage of public money, he observed. "When we cancel the tenders, the delay is inevitable. It will escalate the project cost. Moreover, the contractors and industrialists will lose confidence on the state government," he said.

How could Jagan take unilateral decisions without taking prior permission from the Union government, which has been funding hundred per cent for the project, he questioned.

"Reviewing of the PPAs will send a wrong signal not only to the investors in the country, but also to the global giants. This was the fear expressed by the Union minister for renewable energy. But Jagan did not consider the suggestions from the Central government in this respect," he stated.

At the same time, Lakshminarayana maintained that there was nothing wrong in taking action against the corrupt companies, but that does not mean to stop all the works, cancel all the agreements entered by previous governments. "What would be the fate of the development of the state, if every new government introduce such retrospective policies?," he said.

The BJP state chief said that there was much gap between the promises and actions of Jagan. "He ordered the officials in Collectors' Conference that there should not be any law and order violation in the state. In contrast, YSRCP leaders are threatening entire villagers to vacate as they did not vote for the party. Even police officials were asked not to enter the village, as they would face threat from YSRCP leaders," he said, adding that this situation is prevailing in Palnadu region of Guntur district, from where home minister M Sucharita is representing. YSRCP leaders were filing false cases against their rivals and are misusing SC, ST Atrocities Act, he alleged.

Lakshminarayana also condemned the Chief Minister for stopping all works at Amaravati capital. He observed that by this action, all the money spent so far for construction will go waste.

Reacting on the Kapu and EWS reservations, he blamed that Jagan Mohan Reddy did not find time to solve these urgent public problem, but has time to make laws, issue GOs to benefit his supporters. He suspected that there were some vested interests behind delay in bringing in new sand policy. Though lakhs of people have been agitating for sand, the Chief Minister is buying time, he pointed out.

He alleged that Jagan has even failed in the implementation of welfare programmes. "Jagan is claiming that he has been providing Rs 12,500 to the farmers under YSR Rythu Bharosa. But, this amount includes Rs 6,000 contribution of Central government. If he wanted to include central assistance in his scheme, let him change the name as Modi-YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme. Or else, he should bear hundred percent burden. But, Jagan is misleading public, by claiming the central assistance as state government scheme," he said.
