Kanna flags off Gandhi Sankalp Yatra in Srikalahasti

Tirupati: Commemorating the Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana flagged off the 'Gandhi Sankalp Yatra' in Srikalahasti on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Kanna Lakshminarayana said the party was committed to fulfill the ideals and principles of Mahatma Gandhi in true spirit under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said the party leaders would march 150 kilometres in the district to propagate the Gandhiji's principles among the people. He said the party is aimed to reach the people with Gandhiji's message of 'Grama Swarajya' (Village Freedom), Swadeshi, Swachh Bharat and non-violence.

During the seven decades rule of Congress, the country could not made any progress, he stated and added only BJP can take Gandhi's message forward and make the country move ahead on all fronts.

Kanna said Modi has been leading the country towards corruption-free society with simplicity and reviving Mahatma's values and principles. During the padayatra, he said the services of martyrs in freedom struggle and military services would be remembered and tributes would be paid to them.

He stated the party state secretary G Bhanu Prakash Reddy's padayatra would cover seven assembly constituencies – Srikalahasti, Tirupati, Chandragiri, Nagari, GD Nellore, Chittoor and Puthalapattu and culminate at Kanipakam on October 24.

Srikalahasti leader Kola Anand will participate in the two-day padayatra in the constituency along with Bhanu Prakash. Party former state president Chilakam Ramachandra Reddy, district president B Chandra Reddy, senior leaders K Santha Reddy, Subramanyam Reddy, Narayana Swamy Naidu, district general secretary Ponaganti Bhaskar and Dr P Krsihna Prasanthi participated in the programme.
