Kanumuri Hospitals hold plantation drive in Guntur

Guntur: As part of the World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Day at Narnepadu village in Guntur on Tuesday, the Kanumuri Hospitals organised a tree plantation programme, "Go Green Guntur.'

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Chairman of Kanumuri Hospitals Dr Kanumuri Srinivas Rao said that the programme, which started in different villages during this year aims at planting about one lakh plants in different villages of Guntur district in the coming ten years in phased manner.

The COPD is a group of respiratory diseases characterised by progressive airflow limitation and breathlessness caused by smoking and exposure to noxious gases and particles. India is the world capital of COPD and it is the second leading cause of death in India.

Dr Srinvias Rao said that the Kanumuri Hospitals, till now, about 2000 plants were planted on sides of roads connecting our village and also in public places. Apart from that, he said that they have distributed 4,000 fruit bearing plant saplings to the village people.
