Karat flays TDP govt for failure to get SCS to State
Visakhapatnam: Left parties will take up the people's issues, work towards addressing their concerns and safeguard their democratic rights, CPM politburo member Brinda Karat said here on Sunday.
Extending support to the campaign of Jana Sena Party, CPI and CPM candidate for the Araku Assembly constituency Killo Surendra in Araku Valley, she emphasised that the Left parties were serious in taking the concerns of the people to the Assemblies and thus there was a need to strengthen their presence in the upcoming elections.
Lashing out at the NDA government at a meeting held in the city, Karat said that the Centre was only keen on protecting the interests of the industrial bigwigs. Calling for support in the ensuing elections, she said the Left Parties were not only committed to giving voice to the voiceless but also were instrumental in sorting out serious concerns of the people, including the struggles faced by Adivasis.
Karat said that people were badly in need of a change both at the Centre and the State and hence the democratic and secular parties would ally with one another to emerge as an alternative to the BJP-led NDA government.
Pointing out the failure of the Andhra Pradesh government in getting Special Category Status to the State, she said the alliance with Jana Sena would aid in forming the government in the State next to usher in a much-required change in the system. Among other members, CPM State secretariat member Ch Narasinga Rao attended the meet.
