Kakinada: BJP Kisan Morcha will stage dharnas in front of district collectorates across the state on October 10 demanding the state government to implement Rythu Bharosa scheme to all tenant farmers irrespective of caste.

Stating this here at a press conference on Sunday, BJP Kisan Morcha state president Vetukuri Suryanarayana Raju said the government was going to give money to only SC/ST and BC tenants.

But he said there were a large number of tenant farmers from upper castes like Kapus, who were poor and unable to mobilise funds for cultivation costs. But the tenant farmers of other castes, like Kapus and other upper castes have been exempted the scheme.

"Farmer is farmer to whatever caste he belongs. All the farmers are equal, incur losses during the calamities. Hence, we want the government to apply the scheme all tenant farmers," he said.

Suryanarayana Raju also demanded the government to pay Rs 18,500 under the scheme instead of Rs 12,500 by contributing the entire amount of Rs 12,500 as promised by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy during elections besides Centre's contribution of Rs 6,000.

"Jagan Mohan Reddy promised farmers to give Rs 12,500 each during election. But now he proposes to give only Rs 6,500 while the remaining Rs 6,000 is released by the Union government under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Jagan should give Rs 12,500 as promised apart from Centre's Rs 6,000," he said.

Suryanarayana Raju said former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu also ruined the agriculture sector despite the Central government releasing funds, naming schemes after him like Chandranna Rythu Bima. Now Jagan is also following in his footsteps, he said.

Alleging that just like YSRCP leaders were dictating to cooperative societies just like during the previous regime when Naidu's Janmabhoomi committees controlled them, the BJP Kisan Morcha leader demanded the government to hold elections to cooperative societies immediately. BJP district president Y Malakondaiah and others were present.
