Kishan Reddy urges State govt to rethink on shifting the capital
New Delhi: Amaravati farmers and Joint Action Committee leaders here on Sunday met Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy and appealed to the Centre to intervene on the issue of shifting of capital in Andhra Pradesh.
The farmers said that the people in the State had been suffering since the day Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took the unilateral decision of shifting the capital without concerning the stakeholders.
Speaking to the media after listening to the farmers, Kishan Reddy said that the Central government was yet to receive any communication from YSRCP government on the three capitals. He however said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan should think about the farmers who gave their lands to capital Amaravati.
He said that the Centre functions as per the Constitution. The Union Minister assured farmers that the Central government would intervene once it was informed and he said that he would discuss the matter of shifting the capital with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He said that AP government should rethink about shifting the capital and reminded that AP BJP was against the shifting of the capital.
