Kodali Nani slams Chandrababu Naidu over false accusations on Vizag Gas Leak tragedy
Amaravati, May 9: Minister for Civil Supplies, Kodali Venkateswara Rao (Nani) said that opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu is responsible for the gas tragedy in Visakhapatnam, as the permission for industrial operations and for expansion or the unit was given during TDP term.
Speaking over the gas leak incident in Visakhapatnam, Minister Nani stated that TDP members are making false remarks and baseless accusations against the government. "In 2017, during his term, Chandrababu gave permission for the company for expansion, despite knowing that it is surrounded by residential colony.
In 2018, he again gave permission for the same company for expansion and development activities for the next five years. Naidu is now showing concern over the tragedy and accusing the State government of permitting such industrial activities in residential area. Chandrababu Naidu who didn't like the expert committee constituted by the State government with IAS officers, constituted his own committee with leaders like Atchamnaidu, Chinarajappa, and Ramanaidu who have no merit on any count."
The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government is very much committed to public welfare and brought the situation under control within a few hours of occurrence. The Chief Minister has announced an ex gratia of Rs 1 Crore to the kin of the deceased besides Rs 10 lakhs for those with serious ailments. "The Chief Minister alerted all the officials, reviewed the situation, and personally visited the victims within hours after the tragedy. However, Chandrababu Naidu made himself confined to self-quarantine by sitting in his luxury residence in Hyderabad.
Even after such a tragic incident, he didn't move to the States and put up a fake letter seeking permission to travel from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam. When thousands of migrant workers are able to cross the State, a mighty person like Naidu wouldn't be able to visit Visakhapatnam." he added.
