Krishna district sees fall in coronavirus positive cases
Vijayawada: Covid-19 positive cases drastically declined in Krishna district during the last five days. A total of 13 cases were reported against the 96 cases registered from May 1 to 9. From May 6 to 9, the district registered 14,16,6 and 16 cases respectively triggering alarm. But the positive cases fell drastically in the last five days.
On Thursday, only two cases were reported in the district. From May 10 onwards the district registered 1,3,4,3 and two cases respectively. In all, the district registered 351 positive cases and 203 were discharged from the hospitals. The active cases in the district are 131 by Thursday. So far, Covid-19 tests were conducted to 20,250 persons. Of the 2,100 positive cases registered in the State, 351 are from Krishna district. Kurnool has the highest number of cases with 591 followed by Guntur with 404 positive cases by Thursday. Except 20 containment zones in Vijayawada, Nuzvid, Jaggayyapet, Machilipatnam and parts of Vijayawada rural mandal, most of the district in the green zone and orange zones and shops are being opened for doing business from 10 am. to 5 pm. People living in the rural areas are able to move freely from green zone area to other and restrictions on doing business also eased.
More than 6,000 migrant workers belong to other States were sent from Krishna district by Special Sramik trains run by the Railways. The special trains left for Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odihsa, Bihar and Maharashtra. Only 884 migrant workers are left in the district in 22 centres. About 1150 people are staying in the shelters arranged for the homeless in the district.
