Krishna waters released to Madanapalli summer storage tank

Madanapalli (Chittoor district): In an effort to ease out the water problem in Madanapalli town in the ensuing summer season, Krishna water was released from Handri Neeva Canal to Chippilli reservoir.

Panchayat Raj Minister P Ramachandra Reddy along with Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy formally released the water which was brought from Cherlopalli Reservoir in Anantapur district to Chittoor district through Punganur Branch Canal of Handri Neeva project.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramachandra Reddy said that bringing Krishna water will help to meet the increased water demand in the coming summer.

Reiterating that his government is committed for the development of the backward Madanapalli area, the minister said efforts are on to improve drinking water supply to other areas in the division. Officials said that after filling Chipilli reservoir, Gunti reservoir also will be filled with water as a precautionary measure to meet the drinking water requirement of the town in the summer.

Madanpalli is the worst hit town reeling under severe water problem which was evident with the municipality providing drinking water supply once in 7-10 days. MPs PV Mithu Reddy, Reddappa, collector Dr Narayan Bharath Gupta and others were present.
