Kurnool: 20 hurt in honey bee attack

Kurnool: Around 20 labourers were severely injured in an attack by honey bees at Pusulur in Nandyal in the district on Thursday. All the injured were admitted to Nandyal government general hospital.

According to information, around 20 daily wage labourers were heading towards Pusulur from Nandyal in an autorickshaw for work in agriculture fields. When the vehicle was nearing Pusulur, a tractor coming from the opposite direction hit a road side tree after drive lost control on the steering. The impact of the crash stirred the hornet's nest on the tree triggering an attack by a swarm of bees.

Passengers of the autorickshaw could not avoid the sting despite taking to heels. Several of them suffered serious injuries and were shifted to Nandyal general hospital. A woman among the victim said that that she could not run from the autorickshaw due to obesity. The bees surrounded her in large number and stung her.

Some of the injured were being treated in intensive care unit.
