Kurnool: ABVP stages dharna, seeks continuation of fee reimbursement
Kurnool: Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) district convener B Ashok Kumar has demanded the state government to immediately nullify the GO No 77 which was issued to cancel the scholarship and fee reimbursement. With the demand, the student leaders staged a protest in front of the collectorate on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, Ashok Kumar said the GO No 77 will ruin the bright future of several students pursuing post-graduate education in private colleges. The students would be stopped from extending Jagananna Vasathi Deevana and Vidya Deevana. Depending on those schemes, several students hailing from poor family background were pursuing higher education, he stated. The students have to discontinue education if the government fails to provide scholarship and fee reimbursement, he alleged. He demanded the government to immediately withdraw the GO No 77. If the government does not nullify the GO, he said the students and ABVP will intensify the agitation across the state till the government concede its demand.
Another leader Mahesh alleged that the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who promised to honour all his promises, was now killing the bright future of poor students by bringing the GO No 77. Mahesh recalled the CM has assured that he will reimburse the total fee till the completion of education of every student. In addition to paying total fees, Jagan has also said every student would be paid an additional amount of Rs 20,000, said Mahesh.
He demanded the government to suspend the GO and continue all schemes being extended by the government for the students.
